Works as it should, but lacks a few essentials.
This is a handy little unit that works fine, but needlessly lacks a few necessary items.
It is very small and light. It seems quite delicate for field use. You wouldn't want to drop it. The buttons are made from a very light plastic, so I hope it holds up over time.
Read more It came with a dual mounting bracket for mounting to a tripod with a camera. The included foam windscreen is a very tight fit and difficult to get on and off and I can foresee it eventually ripping over time. You would probably want to order a furry windscreen for outdoor work anyway.
I found it very annoying that the unit came with batteries, but NO micro SD card and NO micro USB cable. Every review I have seen on this unit fails to mention this, but it is necessary to perform a firmware update or properly test it.
Recordings sounded good in all formats. Recording direct-to-DAW worked, but monitoring in multi-channel mode was noisy and distorted even though the recordings sounded fine. I was never able to nail down the cause, but it is probably a driver issue. Stereo monitoring was perfect, though.
All in all, this is a good and portable unit for VR and 360 field work.
