This is not a complete review as I've only had it a few days. So here are just a few initial impressions. Solid quality feel. Faders are smooth and relatively quiet. Pan knobs are a little loose/soft. they can use a little more resistence. Could also be a little smoother when you press down on them...
Read moreYou can use it with multiple DAWs but I use it in Logic. If you use it as a straight (MCU) control surface, You'll be up and running in no time but you will have to read the manual to dive deeper into it's multitude of features.
I really like the unit overall. But here are 3 negatives or things to be aware of:
1.Unit is very square and edges are sharp. There really isn't any space to rest your palms and if you do, its not comfortable or ergonomic. I'm sure they had to do this because the unit had to fit into their larger console as a permanent control solution. This could be solved buy selling a rounded frame for the sides with padded palm rest. PLEASE SOMEONE MAKE THIS.
2. No power button/switch. I know, lots of studio gear are like that...but I would have liked that.
3. When you do the setup (my was Logic Pro) SSL tells you to choose "Mackie Control" as controller. This sort of works but the unit because really wacky and weird... Once I changed it to "Mackie MCU PRO" the unit functioned as expected.
Hope this helps and thank you Louis for the good service.
