Great budget system that still gets the job done.
I own several of these EW 512P G4 systems and use them along with other systems for documentary filmmaking. They have always performed well under non-demanding situations for me. The MKE2 lav mic that comes with the set just doesn't cut it, sounds terrible to me. Lire plus
I replace them with Sanken Cos11D's. The max RF 50 mW power does the trick but for more demanding situations I rely on the Lectrosonics units with RF 100 mW power or even my Lectrosonics SPDR. I'm not crazy about the menu layout on the Sennheiser's, I think they could do a better job with that. Overall I am happy with the 500 G4 system and would recommend it to any serious documentary filmmaker (just not the MKE2 lav mic).

This lavalier kit do the job !
Needed a kit that doesn't catch all the interference and this one really do the job ! 500 series is great ! I recomment it !

Kit lavalier Sennheiser 500

A slight update to the classic G3's
These are basically the same as the G3's so there shouldn't be too much of a re-learning curve. Battery life is great (even-though the low batt light seems to always be on for some reason). The MKE 2 Gold mic to me is certainly worth the extra cost, no doubt about it. Lire plus
It's compact, easy to hide and sounds leagues better than the regular MKE lavs. The only thing (and I'm not sure if this is a Sennheiser thing) but I do find some interference once in a while with these. Seeing that I'm in Vancouver, I have a feeling that the 500 Mhz range is quite busy with other productions... If you don't mind re-buying in a year or so, go with the 600 Mhz and above for the time being as I have a set in this range and never have any problems. Very slick set.
