Designed as a central component to the EMI REDD.51 recording console, the original REDD.47 line amplifier was used to amplify virtually every stage of the audio path (mic inputs, line inputs, echo sends and monitors).
The REDD.47 lent its unmistakably punchy, aggressive character to music recorded at Abbey Road Studios between 1964 and 1968, including many tracks by The Beatles.
The Chandler Limited REDD.47 pre-amp offers many additional benefits to the original design including increased gain, allowing a range of tonal options from pristine clean sound to classic rich, saturated tone with up to 2% harmonic distortion before clipping. The Chandler Limited REDD.47 pre-amp easily reproduces the distortions heard on The Beatles' 'Revolution.'

Fantastic
Super happy with the Redd.47. I'm using it primarily for male vocals with a U67 and loving the results. Very musical. It's a great contrast to my 1073s and UA610.

Exactly What You'd Expect
When making this purchase I had to pause for a sanity check. Was this the answer? Would it be all I hoped it would be? We'll as soon as had in in my hands I started tracking and wow! All the reviews were true. This has a character and color different than my Neve and API. Lire plus
The way I would describe it is it has such a full bodied sound and a mojo or excitement that when tracking vocals and acoustic instruments it reaches in to the sound and pulls out all the wonderful harmonic complexities and richness. It's not cheap but it's worth every penny!

Luxurious And Musical
What can I say that hasn't already been said about this beautiful piece. After unboxing this beauty I went straight to tracking acoustic 6 and 12 string with a little bass on the DI. Five tracks in and wow! Warmth like I've never heard before. Big bottom and very kind high end. Lire plus
The fun has only started. Did vocals on another session and wasn't ready for the extremely natural sounds that sit in the mix. Needless to say this is highly recommended if you're looking for a character different than your Neve/API tone.

Great sounding pre amp.
Great sounding preamp. Aggressive and huge sounding. DI input might even be the star of the show. Have used it on acoustic guitar with Soyuz pencils, snare and kick direct mic, and vocals. It worked admirably in all areas. Big, full and fast sound.
Not sure if this pre amp nails that ?revolver? sound or not, I don't care. Lire plus
It's not why I purchased it. Hard to find a better pre amp.
