Greetings!
For years I've used the AKG 535eb as my personal 'go to' microphone for live vocal performance.
One day, I had the pleasure of watching a YouTube Video of Chris Cornell singing "Nothing Compares to U" (written by Prince), and I was floored.

I was absolutely floored by the nuances that this mic delivered. For a handheld condenser, it demonstrated some very real and unique qualities, and it was manufactured by Audio Technica?
I was floored on two counts.
It has a way of capturing a vocal in a way that made me think of the U67, but in a handheld.
The AE3300 possesses a very refined upper mid-range with just the right amount of air.
It's frequency response has a dip right around 8 k.
Proximity effect while present, is very classy, and not boomy at all.
The build quality of the Artist Elite 3300 is exceptional.
The microphone has two recessed switched on it. One being a - 10dB pad, as well as a hp filter.
For the FOH engineer... You can sleep well, the artist would need a pin or the tip of a ballpoint pen to access them. There will be no accidentals when it comes to these filter switches.
As stated they are recessed and there is zero chance that the artist could access them.
At half the price of the Neumann , it does what the Neumann handheld does but IMHO... Better.
This mic has retired my 535eb for live vocals and I've been an AKG loyalist for over 20 years.
I would never have imagined that Audio Technica would become my vocal microphone of choice for live performance. What an oversight on my part.
Have a listen for yourself. This mic just brings it, and brings it again and again.:
