I held off writing a review for some time now so I could feel completely familiar with this new piece of gear, and just not rush into praise. First thing is I am using Sennheiser 650's and the sound and drive from the headphone amp impressed me immediately. The unit should be close by, I have it on my standing desk infront of me between the monitors. I appreciate good ergonomics. The knobs and layout is overall well done. The tolex covering the unit, is very cool. It's not as heavy as I imagined it was going to be by the way. Love that its made in the U.K. Every function you can work out and learn without relying on manuals at all. Better than the manual is a video on the Neve website between a tech Graeme and a journalist, Joe which covers all the points, questions you could imagine. "Yes, it does have two Marinair transformer pre-amps" The big red knob for monitors is good, but it does have a little left-right slop in it which bugs me unless I'm on the center indent. I am recording with mics daily as well as a lot of analogue Synths and drum machines. The sound is clean as I hoped and significantly a step up from the UAD Apollo Twin Quad I have used previously. I can easily imagine these 88ms are going to be in Studios everywhere in the next few years. Very recommended.

Sounds great
Really great sounding unit - the preamps are great, converters sound amazing. I have issues with USB stability. Studio Economik contacted Neve and gave me access to the firmware update. I had to mess with the file to get it to run on my Mac using a few commands on the console. Lire plus
The USB light on the 88M now turns on.
I still have issues with USB stability, the 88M will disconnect when my MacStudio is idle. Can't say if it's the 88M or the MacStudio that's causing this error... I hope AMS Neve will investigate. It's annoying to have to reboot every time I take a break.
* It's important to note that the guys at Economik went above and beyond to help me out. Great shop and I will purchase more gear from them in the future.
