This microphone offers three switchable stereo modes"MS, XY-narrow, and XY-wide"providing flexibility for different recording scenarios. The MS mode enables post-production adjustments to the stereo image, while the XY modes deliver a balanced left-right stereo field without external processing. Additional features include a low-cut filter to reduce handling noise, a -10 dB pad for high SPL situations, and a moisture-resistant design for reliable performance in various climates. With its compact size, balanced XLR-5M output, and non-reflective Nextel finish, the MKH 8018 is a discreet yet powerful tool for professional sound engineers and filmmakers.
