Description

The Cranborne Audio Carnaby 500 is a groundbreaking 3-band parametric equalizer designed for the 500 Series format, introducing the world's first Harmonic EQ™ technology. Unlike traditional EQs that adjust amplitude and phase, the Carnaby 500 employs analog harmonic saturation to boost and cut frequency content, enriching your audio sources, stems, and mixes with genuine analog warmth and character.

Each of the three interactive bands offers ±10dB of boost or cut with sweepable and overlapping frequency controls, allowing for precise tonal shaping. The HI band ranges from 5kHz to 25kHz, utilizing smooth saturation to naturally extend high frequencies, adding air and breath to vocals and acoustic instruments. The MID band, a peaking filter with a fixed Q, covers 200Hz to 6.2kHz, applying saturation to emphasize harmonics across its range. The LO band spans 20Hz to 420Hz, using hard-clipping saturation to enhance sub-harmonic frequencies, perfect for adding depth to bass elements.

The Carnaby 500's dynamic response increases harmonic content as the circuits are driven harder. Input and Output level controls provide ±20dB of adjustment, enabling you to drive the unit for more saturation and distortion effects or back off for a cleaner EQ when needed. Additionally, the innovative OptoSync feature allows for wireless communication between modules, enabling linked controls during stereo operation without the need for cables.
