Bettermaker is proud to introduce a groundbreaking innovation designed to make professional music production more accessible to blind and physically disabled creators. In collaboration with The MIDI Association’s Music Accessibility Standard Special Interest Group (MASSIG), Bettermaker has developed a voice-command control system for its hardware and plugins. Powered by cutting-edge open-source AI, this system allows for hands-free operation and real-time speech feedback, ensuring precise adjustments.

Inclusivity at the Core

Bettermaker believes that high-quality sound should be accessible to everyone. This new feature empowers music producers with visual or physical impairments to seamlessly bring their creative visions to life.

The Technology Behind the Innovation

Developed by the MASSIG group—comprising MIDI Association members such as Audio Modeling, Roland, Arcana Instruments, Bettermaker, and accessibility experts like Jay Pocknell of The Royal Institute for the Blind and technologist Sam Prouse—the system has been a year in the making. It utilizes OpenAI-Whisper for advanced speech recognition, combined with an intelligent software layer to interpret user intent.

Blind and physically disabled users benefit from real-time voice feedback, ensuring intuitive and precise parameter control. This breakthrough underscores Bettermaker’s commitment to developing universally inclusive music technology that aligns with MIDI 2.0 standards.
